Houghton 41 club represented by Vice Chairman John Price and one of its members Keith Birtley present a cheque to the Houghton Gilpin Singers.
The Gilpin Choir is a community-based choir from Houghton le spring, who practice every Wednesday at Houghton St Michael and all Angels Church, and who regularly hold concerts here for the parishioners of Houghton le spring. whilst all concerts are free any donations are used to support the choir in running costs and to purchase music sheets.
With the contribution from Houghton 41 club, this will enable support in the purchase of additional music sheets for all the members and enhance their portfolio of music. Also Helping to purchase much needed equipment, portable sound systems, music stands and insurance for equipment and utility costs they have to pay when they practice.
This will also enable the choir to be more active in the community of Houghton le spring, providing concerts as an example in Care Homes across the area.
Laura Parkin “Choir Director” spoke on behalf of the Gilpin Singers and expressed how much this gesture means to the future for all of the 41 members of the Gilpin Choir and how it will enable the group to be more proactive in the community, purchase much needed music sheets and equipment and ensure the continued development of the choir, and on behalf of all the members were extremely grateful for the funding and sincerely thanked the members of Houghton41 club for their generosity and support
